The first National Album Day has been announced today to celebrate the UK’s love of the album. The inaugural annual event, supported by their broadcasting partner BBC Music, will take place on 13th October. It will mark the start of a week-long series of events across the UK, celebrating both new and classic releases across all genres. There will also be a social media campaign, inviting people to nominate and share their most favourite albums, plus retail events and online listening parties. One of the first ambassadors for National Album Day is singer-songwriter Paloma Faith, who, its hoped will be followed by many others to help promote the event and raise awareness.
Creativebyte was first asked a couple of months ago if we would create a new logo and brand for the event by ERA and the BPI who are jointly involved in organising the new initiative, but of course it was all hush hush until the anouncement today. The logo and brand guidelines will be used by major music retailers, from all the big supermarkets down to local independent and indie record shops across the country. We have worked with ERA since 1999 and several other companies in and around London across the entertainment sector who are involved in anti-piracy and the protection of muscian’s rights.
